Blizzard Strikes London on Day of Departure

London grinds to a halt as heavy snow threatens to ground intrepid travellers, Jecks and Holman.

Imagine our surprise / horror as we open Jecks’s front door and found a wall of snow had hit London overnight. The inevitable onslaught of late of cancelled transport had already begun. Jecks and Holman immediately took action and followed the standard London protocol, skulking off for Starbucks and a frolick in the snow.

The dire outcome of such frivolous and foolhardy behaviour resulted in a distinctly smaller window of opportunity for packing. Boots, band aids, fleeces and muesli bars were being hurled across Claire’s lounge room, now resembling a post apocalyptic ground zero.

Our Mini Cab screeched towards Heathrow, god knows what we packed!?! With airport across London rapidly closing due to the foul weather it was a race against time. But our fears were all for naught as it seemed that we were the only people crazy enough to fly out of Heathrow in a blizzard that day.

After a quick squirt of anti freeze on the aeroplane wings to prevent inevitable disaster we were on our way to Beijing.
